England’s downs were full of clowns
From Brighton on up to Forfar
But they’d no problem parking
(not even in Barking)
You see, they’d all come in one car.
Forfar is, in fact, in Scotland, but it worked for the rhyme.

Really tall Ricky
Had just turned sixty
And it happened
Just as he feared…
That the clouds gathered ’round
And tried to make friends
With his puffy white sixty-year-old beard.
Beaches aswarm with humans as dark clouds roll ashore; thunder in the distance.
Hopeful sharks cruise the shallows, lifeguards slumber peacefully in soundproof huts.
Overworked Ferris wheel takes its revenge, flinging portly Sunday afternooners to their salty demise in the chop.
Fleet ghosts shimmer briefly on the horizon, then vaporize again to ride the ether to another time, another shore.
Someone feeds chocolate to a dog.
I thought I’d be clever and have some fun
With our local merchant, Mr. Dunn
So I asked him to please and quick
Bring me…
A kilogram of poundcake
A yard of inch worms (blue)
A handball full of cubic feet
And a gallon of cupcakes too
I’ll need a tiny elephant
One hyperactive sloth
A lovebird with a broken heart
And a spider-eating moth
A guy named Kelvin Fahrenheit
(a deathly shy crowd-pleaser)
And as many isotherms as you
Can pack inside a freezer
I seek a sideways redwood tree
A ripple on a dried-up sea
A place where one and one is three
Mr. Dunn,
Please bring them all to me
Mr. Dunn has since retired
And will not speak to me.|
Higgledy, piggledy, wonder and why
A four-ton hog in a three-story sty
He wasted some money on two-legged chairs
But his biggest mistake was the one-way stairs.
